Katie's Legacy Syndicate

The Horse Racing Industry does a huge amount of fundraising for a range of charitable causes. Now Old Gold Racing is getting in on the action! Our first charity syndicate will aim to raise £40,000 for a cause that's very close to our hearts.

Cervical cancer is a disease that affects the lives of many. Despite our knowing the steps required to eliminate it, lack of education and misdiagnosis remain a problem.

In partnership with Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and The Lady Garden Foundation, Old Gold Racing's next syndicate will aim to contribute to the solution. The syndicate will be called 'Katie's Legacy Syndicate' in memory of Katie, the daughter of racehorse trainer, Peter Pritchard, who lost her life to cervical cancer at 37-years-old in June of this year. She is survived by her husband and her two young children.

Peter Pritchard approached Old Gold Racing wanting to do something positive in Katie's memory. He donated a lovely filly for us to syndicate. We're thrilled to have collaborated with two remarkable charities to increase awareness and support in addressing this challenging disease.

Peter Pritchard “While nothing can replace the void Katie’s passing has left behind, we want to honour her life and her story. By combining Katie’s love of horses with our ambition to make a difference, we hope ‘Katie Sunny Dancer’ will contribute to support around, the advancement of research into, and awareness of, cervical cancer - so others do not have to go through Katie’s ordeal."

Who are The Lady Garden Foundation?

The Lady Garden Foundation is a women's health charity that focuses on raising funds and awareness to increase women’s knowledge of the symptoms of the five gynaecological cancers (ovarian, womb, cervical, vaginal and vulval) – knowledge that will help women to understand their bodies and ultimately save lives.

Since launching the foundation in 2014, they have donated £2.7 million towards The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. The foundation has funded research projects, diagnosis and treatment equipment, bricks and mortar and much more, all dedicated to improving the lives and outcomes of women with gynaecological cancer.

The University Education Programme reached over 300,000 students this year across 14 UK universities providing them with the knowledge, awareness and language to feel confident speaking and advocating for their gynae health.

Out of the 57 women who get diagnosed with gynaecological cancer every day, 21 of them will die. With your help, the money raised from the syndicate can help improve prevention and outcomes of gynaecological cancers.
