Jamie Snowden to train new charity racehorse Rebel Tribesman

Former Army officer Jamie Snowden trains Old Gold Racing’s Rebel Tribesman, raising £35,000 for veterans’ charity Walking With The Wounded.

Old Gold Racing have announced the launch of a new racehorse syndicate in partnership with military charity Walking With The Wounded.

The initiative aims to raise £35,000 through the sale of 3,500 shares in the exciting young racehorse Rebel Tribesman, who will be trained by former British Army officer and Grade 1-winning trainer Jamie Snowden.

Each £60 share covers training, insurance, veterinary care and management fees, while £10 per share will go directly to Walking With The Wounded (WWTW). In addition, Old Gold Racing will contribute 25% of its management fees to the charity.

Once all shares are sold, the syndicate will have raised £35,000 to support WWTW’s mission to make the UK the best place for a veteran to live and thrive. This amount could fund employment support for 30 veterans or provide 30 intensive face-to-face therapy programmes.

Rebel Tribesman, a promising four-year-old gelding, showcased his potential with a win in a competitive bumper at Aintree in May 2025. Purchased by Old Gold Racing for £55,000, he represents an exciting opportunity for fans to experience the thrill of racehorse ownership while contributing to a life-changing cause.

Walking With The Wounded delivers mental health, employment and wraparound support programmes tailored to the individual needs of ex-service personnel, helping them rebuild their lives after service.

They stand side-by-side with veterans on their path back to civilian life by delivering face-to-face, bespoke, interconnected services, helping those who have fallen furthest to get back on track and moving forwards once more.

This innovative syndicate combines the thrill of racehorse ownership with tangible support for veterans who have served their country.

Jamie Snowden, trainer of Rebel Tribesman, said: "It means a lot to be working with Walking With The Wounded for this syndicate. The military and its veterans are something that I hold very close to my heart following my short service in the King's Royal Hussars, and the chance to raise £35,000 to help this cause is brilliant.

“Rebel Tribesman has settled into our routine here at Folly House seamlessly, and if his bumper win at Aintree is anything to go off, we could have a really smart horse on our hands."

Speaking about the partnership, Ed Seyfried, Chief Executive of Old Gold Racing, said: “We’re incredibly proud to team up with Walking With The Wounded for this very special syndicate. Our aim has always been to make racehorse ownership affordable, social and meaningful and Rebel Tribesman gives people the chance to do just that while helping veterans rebuild their futures.

“The Rebel Tribesman syndicate could raise really meaningful funding and awareness for our cause, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch crowds of owner-donors cheer Rebel Tribesman home!”
