Not every big performance results in a headline victory. Sometimes it is the subtle runs, the late headway, the eye-catching move through the field, or the effort despite unfavourable conditions, that signal a horse ready to strike next time. Here are four runners who caught the eye this week and may be worth adding to your tracker for future races...

Moon Target

Having been nudged along at the three-furlong pole, it would have been reasonable for Moon Target to fade away on ground she wouldn’t have loved at Sandown, so it was a gallant effort to finish third in a Group 3. She was trapped on the wing which didn’t help but responded well to jockey Luke Morris’s urgings and will be seen to better effect on a faster surface. She is held in very high regard by trainer Sir Mark Prescott and with proven Group 1 form on her CV, she should land a very nice prize in the near future.

Harry’s Halo

Providing he strips fitter for his latest second this week at Epsom, Harry’s Halo will be a big player wherever he turns up next for Kevin and Lauren Frost. It was his first run for 84 days and his mark of 69 is two pounds lower than his last winning rating from back in 2024, so he is attractively handicapped based off historical data. His drop in the weights seems to be from racing over various trips away from his preferred six furlongs and his lack of recent excursions resulting in a lack of sharpness, as shown by just three runs since March. Notably, as we move closer to soft ground territory, he does have strong form on a slower surface and he should surely win a race before the year is out.

Oh So Audacious

Connections of Oh So Audacious would have been getting excited with one furlong to go, as their mare narrowly stuck her head in front at Brighton on Tuesday, yet she was stretched by ten furlongs and somehow weakened into a painful fifth. It was her first attempt over this far and simply she never got home, yet the manner in which she made ground and pressed the leaders was eye-catching. Four wins from 30 starts is okay for the level and she will often be the most frequent winner in the field, so she will be interesting when she has her ideal conditions. Interestingly, she has ran well at double figure odds on her last three starts, meaning she will likely present value next time out, hopefully down in trip.

Ghasham

Off a mark of 100, Ghasham still appears well-handicapped and ran another nice race at Cartmel on Monday. He was probably given too much to do for win purposes, but he stayed on nicely under a quiet ride, confirming he is well treated and in good form. He has one win to his name over fences but has finished in the first three on his other five starts and looks sure to be winning another race over fences soon. He has been well backed on each start over the larger obstacles indicating connections are aware how much is under the bonnet.
