About The Mick Fitzgerald Racing Club

Join the Mick Fitzgerald Racing Club to get closer to the action alongside a legend of National Hunt Racing.

Mick’s major successes include wins at The Grand National, The Cheltenham Gold Cup and The Hennessy for Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls in the late 90s and early 2000s. After retiring in 2008, he established himself as a broadcaster and is now a lead host on ITV Racing.

The Mick Fitzgerald Racing Club allows you to share the joys of jumps racing alongside Mick. Members can own shares in two exciting National Hunt prospects, get regular updates from Mick on their progress (including pre-training with his wife, Chloe), attend stable visits, win owners badges and prize money, and celebrate with Mick when they win.

There’s also a bit of a nod to the past. Jemura and Paddy De Pole are in training with Mick’s ex-bosses, two giants of the sport: Nicky Henderson OBE and Paul Nicholls OBE.

There'll be an exciting season ahead with both Jemura and Paddy De Pole fit and well ahead of their hurdling campaigns. Find out more about each of them below.

Introducing: Jemura

Jemura is a beautiful four-year-old gelding, in training with Nicky Henderson. He's an athletic type with a loose, easy stride and excellent conformation. He's sired by the Coolmoore stallion, Mahler, and out of Joe's Dream Catch.

Mahler is a proven Grade 1 sire by Galileo and has a solid record in producing Graded and Listed winning National Hunt horses, included but not limited to: Oruna, Chris’s Dream, Sutton Place, Mahler Mission, and Annie Mc.

His dam is a half-sister to Cheltenham Festival winner Tiger Cry and two of her progeny have won seven races between them.

In Jemura’s maiden point-to-point in Ireland, he made a novice’s mistake at first but recovered well to lead in the final circuit and was only headed in the closing stages. He finished only five and a half lengths behind the winner and showed plenty of pace and clear indications of talent. He ran on yielding ground and seemed to prefer the softer conditions, which means winter jumping will suit him.

Jemura was purchased at the Tatterstalls Ireland June Derby Sales by Harley Dunne, who recommended him to Mick.

Jemura learnt plenty in his first season under rules, running some good races in the process. He ran in two bumpers before going over hurdles, where he finished off his season with a respectable 4th.

After a summer off and plenty of pre-training at Mick's home base in Lambourn, Jemura is now back at Seven Barrows with Nicky Henderson and looks a much stronger and more mature horse.

Introducing: Paddy De Pole

Introducing Paddy De Pole, a smart 5-year-old gelding, now in training with Paul Nicholls. Paddy De Pole has a speedy look to his pedigree. He is sired by Alkaadhem, whose progeny include 2022 Grand Annual winner, Global Citizen, and Listed mares’ novices’ hurdle winner, The Organist.

His dam, Squirrel Wood, was a Flat horse by super-sire, Saddler’s Wells. She also proved to be a speedy type, who found success in the latter part of her career over trips of around a mile.

Paddy De Pole was handpicked by Mick, who described him as “a ball of energy”, adding that “he’s a little demon and he’s a proper little tank and he’s made of some pretty stern stuff this fella. I really like him.”

Paddy De Pole has plenty of Point-to-Point experience. He won his most recent outing against stiff competition (including two previous winners) at Belharbour, winning by 15 lengths!

To further strengthen his form: the horse he beat into second, Desert Cave, finished runner up again in his next outing, while Aghmorough Bridge, who Paddy De Pole beat into third, has since won twice.

Paul Nicholls is looking forward to getting going with this lad, informing us that… ‘he’s a Point-to-Point winner, that can be the start of anything with any horse really’ and that ‘what we’ve done so far – he goes nicely and we can see how he develops over the next few months. I’m sure he’s going to improve and turn into a nice staying novice hurdler next season.’

Paddy De Pole is now back in training with Paul Nicholls and, at the time of writing, is being aimed at a novice hurdle very soon.
