Weekend Winners - 28.03.2026

We head to Doncaster for a strong opening day on the Flat, with three competitive races to get stuck into, including the feature Lincoln Handicap. There are some familiar names returning alongside a few unexposed types who could be ahead of their marks at this stage of the season. Conditions look set to suit a number of these, and with a mix of proven quality and potential improvers on show, it is a really interesting card from a betting perspective. Here are my thoughts on the key races:

1:50 Doncaster - William Hill Price Boosts Every Day Cammidge Trophy Stakes (Listed Race)

Both Montassib and Spycatcher top the market in the Cammidge, the latter hoping to claim another success in this race and maintain his great record at Doncaster. He would be preferred to Montassib, who has a bad tendency to fall out of the stalls and leave his race at the start; however, he is a threat with the ground forecasted to be to his liking. I think ARAMRAM could be the one to side with. He was competing in big handicaps throughout last season and, with age on his side, is definitely worth keeping an eye on. Art Power makes his earliest seasonal reappearance to date and, at the age of nine, would be a surprise winner but always seems to run his race.

.

2:57 Doncaster - William Hill Doncaster Mile Stakes (Listed Race)

DOCKLANDS (NAP) heads the market after rerouting from Dubai to Doncaster following the troubles in the Middle East. Jamie Spencer gets the ride, and fitness should not be an issue after a very credible performance in Sha Tin, where he finished fourth in the Hong Kong Mile, picking up over £200,000 in prize money. He has the class to destroy this field, and I think we will see a good performance from him on Saturday. Qirat is an interesting runner, famous for his 150/1 shock success in the Sussex Stakes last year. He is likely to be the pace angle, but I would fear that his win at Goodwood was a miracle and unlikely to happen again.

.

3:32 Doncaster - William Hill Lincoln (Heritage Handicap)

Jamie Spencer could have a very good 40 minutes at Doncaster if Docklands wins, as he also rides LA BOTTE, who was an eye-catching fourth at Wolverhampton last time out. The market has not overlooked him, and therefore, he is a short price, but that wouldn’t deter me. I do think a mark of 104 is still underestimating his capabilities. William Haggas has to be feared in the Lincoln given his record in the race, and after winning his last three starts, Eternal Force is the choice of Cieren Fallon. He had been the favourite for the race until La Botte arrived on the scene, so he has to be taken with respect. Rogue Diplomat is another who is looking to maintain his unbeaten streak, and he has won his last four, including his last two races at Doncaster. On his last start over a mile, he was disappointing, so he must prove himself, but he couldn’t arrive in better form.
