Chaos Control is a well-bred and proven five-year old gelding, in training with Stuart Edmunds.
Chaos Control is sired by Mastercraftsman and out of the High Chaparral mare, Va Pensiero.
Mastercraftsman’s progeny include the likes of 150 rated horses, Scaramanga and Master Blueyes. His dam won two of her five races and is by the same stallion as Altior, among many notable others.
Chaos Control is a ‘bright-eyed and bushy tailed’ sort. He loves his job and takes his races well, so is a horse that is able to run plenty. Indeed, he has all the makings of an exciting dual purpose prospect, which will provide his owners with lots of fun days throughout the year, whether it’s a classic afternoon at a National Hunt meeting or an evening of Flat racing on the All Weather.
Stuart has informed that… “He’s just a thoroughly likeable little horse” and that there should be plenty more fun to be had with him in the near future.
Chaos Control has run a total of 30 times and has proven he has heaps of ability. He has notched up five wins, eight further placings and over £45k in prize money to date. Each of his big runs have been on differing trips and on varying ground, which is a testament to his versatility.
Chaos Control progressed impressively through his first hurdling season, winning by a staggering 22 lengths on his third attempt. He then followed this up by running an excellent race in the 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 1) at the Aintree Festival, finishing 6th. Chaos Control continued his strong form over the Summer with yet another nice run at Aintree, finishing 3rd in a high-class handicap.
At the start of last season he was stepped up in trip at Uttoxeter, which he seemed to take well and according to jockey, Ciaran Gethings, his jumping was “the best it’s ever been”, despite his less than ideal position in the field.
Chaos Control enjoyed a proper holiday over the Winter, which allowed him to freshen up and come back to himself after a busy year. He returned to Stuart’s yard just before the end of last season and kicked things off with a run on the Flat at Southwell (AW). This race didn’t go to plan but still allowed him to get back into the rhythm of racing. His two subsequent runs over hurdles have each got us one step closer to the frame, while also granting him a more competitive handicap mark.
Now back in the swing of things, Chaos Control got another success at Market Rasen, which gave him a confidence boost to run 3rd in a quality handicap in August.
