DancingOnTheEdge is a seven-year-old mare by Kapgarde, in training with Paul Nicholls.
Mr. Nicholls has been responsible for some of Kapgarde’s most impressive progeny, including, but not limited to: Clan Des Obeaux, Dolos, Solo, Edgardo Sol, and As De Mee.
As with those horses, DancingOnTheEdge has been given the time to mature into a lovely, strong mare and now shows ability in every aspect of her training.
DancingOnTheEdge won on debut when making all in a bumper around Worcester. The following season, she embarked on a hurdling campaign, during which she showed physical progression and a willing attitude.
She was a bit unlucky in a couple of her races and was found to have fairly bad ulcers after her last start of that season. This is a minor issue and one that is easily solved but will have played a big part in her below par performances. This was proved correct when she was narrowly defeated - by just a neck - on her next start at Uttoxeter in May, which she then backed up the following month with a solid 4th place.
However, shortly after this she went intermittently lame and was found to have two small bone chips in each of her front fetlock joints. She underwent a minor op to remove these a couple of months ago, from which she has recovered well.
Paul is looking forward to seeing what the future holds for her, he said: “I think we have only just touched the surface with her potential wise” and “I think a lot of fun is to come from her”.
With a first run under her belt, DancingOnTheEdge went on to win emphatically by 17 lengths.
She made her chasing debut in September 2024 and ran a promising race to finish 3rd. Paul has decided to give her a break following a busy season and she will return in the spring to continue her chasing campaign.
There are no other partners in this horse, so once 4,000 shares are sold, 100% of the horse will be owned by Old Gold Racing owners.
Unlike other syndicates, Old Gold Racing does not charge owners VAT. This means that there is no need to reclaim VAT and that a share represents a greater proportion of the racehorse.
At the end of the syndicate term any unspent funds are returned to owners pro-rata. These funds can be withdrawn or used against the cost of renewing or purchasing a share.
