DancingOnTheEdge is a 6-year-old mare by Kapgarde, in training with Paul Nicholls.

Mr. Nicholls has been responsible for some of Kapgarde’s most impressive progeny, including, but not limited to: Clan Des Obeaux, Dolos, Solo, Edgardo Sol, and As De Mee.

As with those horses, DancingOnTheEdge has been given the time to mature into a lovely, strong mare and is now showing ability in every aspect of her training.

DancingOnTheEdge got a win under her belt when making all-in-a bumper around Worcester last season, showing that she can gallop like a true professional.

Since then, she has embarked on a hurdling campaign and has shown progression and a willing attitude. DancingOnTheEdge is a promising mare, who seems to come into her own in the warmer months.

She has been a bit unlucky a couple of times this season and after her most recent run, was found to have ulcers. This is a minor issue that is easily solved and means we can expect plenty more from her in the coming months. This was proved correct when she was narrowly defeated - by just a neck - on her next start at Uttoxeter in May, which she then backed up the following month with a solid 4th place.

Shortly afterwards, she went intermittently lame and was found to have two small bone chips in each of her front fetlock joints. She underwent a minor op to remove these a couple of months ago, from which she has recovered well.

Paul is looking forward to seeing what the future holds for her, he said: “I think we have only just touched the surface with her potential wise” and “I think a lot of fun is to come from her”.

DancingOnTheEdge is currently in the care of Sally Taylor, where she is having a good holiday prior to returning training in the winter ahead of a spring campaign.
