[Horse Name] is a strong, well-made colt with a blue-blooded pedigree. By outstanding sire Toronado, he was purchased by Gai and Adrian for $200,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

After enjoying time to develop in the paddock, the colt has completed two preparations at Tulloch Lodge, Waterhouse and Bott’s renowned Sydney base. He has impressed the team with his straightforward attitude and the progress he has made, giving his connections plenty to look forward to.

Toronado was a champion miler whose victories included the Group 1 Sussex Stakes and Queen Anne Stakes. Now established as a leading sire, he has produced eight individual Group 1 winners and 49 stakes winners worldwide, including Masked Crusader, Tron Bolt and Mariamia.

Polska is the dam of six winners, headed by Group 2 performers Zlotties, Catch A Fire and Group 1-placed Seaburge. She is also the granddam of Group 1-placed Pinito and comes from the family of Group 1 winner Mighty Boss. By two-time Australian Champion Sire Encosta De Lago, she offers a proven cross with Toronado that has already produced Group 1 winner Mariamia.

Nick Luck has built a career that spans many of the world’s leading racing and equestrian events. A familiar face to British audiences, he spent 12 years with Channel 4 and anchored the network’s racing coverage from 2010 until 2016. He can now be seen regularly on Racing TV, where he also presents the weekly magazine programme Luck on Sunday.

His international career with NBC Sports began at the 2012 Breeders’ Cup World Championships. He later joined its Kentucky Derby team in 2018 and has reported on the Preakness Stakes, while also co-hosting Royal Ascot since the network first broadcast the meeting in 2017.

Luck’s work has taken him to major fixtures across Australia, Hong Kong and the Middle East, including the Melbourne Cup, Saudi Cup, Bahrain International Trophy and Dubai World Cup. He added equestrian commentary to his portfolio in 2017, covering the Olympic Games, Olympia Horse Show, Badminton Horse Trials and Burghley Horse Trials for the BBC.

A ten-time Horserace Writers’ & Photographers’ Association Broadcaster of the Year, Luck also fronts the award-winning Nick Luck Daily Podcast, noted for its breaking news, interviews and racing analysis. Beyond the microphone, he is a trustee of the National Horseracing Museum and chair of the Godolphin Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards.

Few training partnerships command the respect of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

The daughter of legendary trainer Tommy J. Smith, Gai Waterhouse spent 15 years learning her craft under her father at Tulloch Lodge. After graduating from the University and briefly pursuing a career in acting, she was granted her Australian Jockey Club training licence in 1992 and saddled her first Group 1 winner later that year.

When her father became ill in 1994, Waterhouse took over the famous Tulloch Lodge stable and has since established herself as one of the most successful trainers in Australian racing history. She has trained 145 Group 1 winners, secured seven Sydney trainers’ premierships and, in 2013, became the first Australian woman to train a Melbourne Cup winner when Fiorente landed the Flemington showpiece. Waterhouse was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2007 and is widely known as the “First Lady of Australian Racing.”

Adrian Bott grew up at historic Segenhoe Stud, where an early education among thoroughbreds fostered his ambition to build a career in racing. At just 29 years of age, he was appointed co-trainer alongside Waterhouse in one of the most coveted positions in Australian racing.

The partnership began on 1 August 2016 and produced its first stakes winner only six days later when Thronum won the Listed Rosebud at Randwick. Further success quickly followed through Global Glamour, who captured the Group 1 Flight Stakes before winning the Group 1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield just seven days later.
