Introducing Fabulous Fortune, an attractive 4-year-old filly who will be trained by Jamie Snowden.
Fabulous Fortune finished 3rd on her first and only start in a Point-to-Point in April 2024. Despite being green, she stayed on well, only being beaten by 4¼ lengths by a more experienced winner.
She was bought at the Doncaster Spring Sale by Mick Fitzgerald for £43,000. This looks like fantastic value for money now that the winner and second-placed from her race have since sold for €320,000 and €165,000 respectively.
Fabulous Fortune’s sire, Soldier Of Fortune, won the Irish Derby (Group 1) and the Coronation Cup (Group 1) on Oaks Day, as well as placing in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Group 1). He entered stud in 2010, standing in France for six seasons before making the move to the Coolmore-run Beeches Stud in Ireland. He has produced several Graded winners including Mega Fortune, Early Doors, Tin Soldier, City Chief and Flying Tiger.
Fabulous Fortune is out of the mare Met U On Saturday, a daughter of Stowaway, who was unraced but has been sent to top stallions such as Milan, Soldier Of Fortune and Crystal Ocean.
Trainer, Jamie Snowden, really likes this filly. He noted that she’s “certainly capable of winning a bumper before progressing over hurdles”, adding that “she’s a smashing buy, certainly for the price she cost… I think she’s wonderful and she’s really exciting to have in the yard”.
Fabulous Fortune has just come in from her Summer holiday and is currently doing some pre-training with Chloe Fitzgerald. The plan is for her to make the move to Jamie’s towards the end of this month, at which point he will begin prepping her for a first run under rules.
Fabulous Fortune should only continue to improve as she goes through the system and - given how well she ran first time out - stands every chance of winning a bumper early on in the season.
Jamie Snowden is a dual Cheltenham Festival winning trainer, who was surrounded by horses from a young age. Following his graduation from Newcastle University he joined the army and became a regular rider in Military races, winning the Grand Military Gold Cup and the Royal Artillery Gold Cup multiple times.
Prior to setting up in his own right in 2008, Jamie joined the Paul Nicholls team as Pupil Assistant before heading to Nicky Henderson’s as Assistant Trainer. Both roles set him up perfectly, as is evident in his results. In 2014, Jamie trained his first Cheltenham Festival winner when Present View won the Novice Handicap chase for Sir Chips Keswick. Other notable owners include HM The Queen and Mrs Fitri Hay. Jamie is regularly among the top 20 trainers in the Championship and achieved his highest prize money total last season, winning £737,177.
There are no other partners in this horse, so once 2250 shares are sold, 100% of the horse will be owned by shareholders.
Mick Fitzgerald Racing Club does not charge owners VAT. This means that there is no need to reclaim VAT and that a share represents a greater proportion of the racehorse.
At the end of the syndicate term any unspent funds are returned to owners pro-rata. These funds can be withdrawn or used against the cost of renewing or purchasing a share.
