Introducing Kenmya

Introducing Kenmya, an attractive 4-year-old filly, now in training with Dan Skelton - the winning-most British trainer at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival.

Kenmya was bought from Jacob Pritchard Webb by Anthony Bromley of Highflyer Bloodstock at the 2023 Goffs September Horses In Training Sale.

Kenmya is joining the Old Gold Racing string, having already made a very good start to her racing career. She has run 12 times on the Flat in both France and Spain, which means she has been well educated and should be ready for an active year in the Old Gold Racing silks.

Already a five-time winner, she has secured wins in France at Vichy, Marseille, Pau and La Teste de Buch and has also claimed a victory at San Sebastian in Spain. Along the way, she has accrued career earnings of £34,314. It is worth noting that her successes have come over distances ranging from 7f to 1m2f and on ground described as Standard, Good to Soft and Soft. This means we have a really versatile filly on our hands – one who should run plenty of times for her owners.

With previous connections, she scored in a maiden at Pau. Four of the horses who finished behind her that day have since gone on to win, including the filly, Regal Sea, who gained her first success later that season in a €23,000 maiden hurdle. While her win in Spain saw her beat horses that would become the winners of 36 races between them.

Her latest success, in August, gained her an official French rating of 37, which translates to 82 in the UK and suggests she has a great deal of potential over hurdles. That victory saw her cross the line half a length in front of Love True, who went on to win a good quality handicap at Clairefontaine.

You can watch that race HERE.

Kenmya is by Cloth Of Stars and out of the Linda’s Lad mare, Wataany.

Cloth Of Stars entered stud in 2019 and already has Listed winning and Group placed progeny to his name. He also already has a smart horse over Jumps in Max of Stars, who has won four of his nine starts over obstacles.

Anthony Bromley has informed that he is excited to see more of Cloth Of Stars’ progeny go jumping because “he’s a very exciting prospect”.

Kenmya’s dam’s sire, Linda’s Lad, is a recognised National Hunt sire, which bodes extremely well for her transition to hurdling.

Kenmya went straight into training with Dan on leaving the sales but it was felt she would benefit from a holiday. She looked a smart prospect during her time with Dan before going away for the Winter and had been schooling over the hurdles beautifully.

She returned to training at the end of summer and Dan got her going straight away. Coming on well, she needed the run when finishing down the field on her first start for Old Gold Racing. Dan feels it was important to get her back into the swing of things and that there will be a great deal of improvement to come.

Provided Kenmya builds on this experience as she is expected to, she should be in the winners’ enclosure soon enough!

About the Trainer

Dan Skelton Racing was established in 2013 and is based in Warwickshire. Along with Dan, there is his brother and stable jockey, Harry. The pair grew up around horses, being the sons of Olympic champion show jumper Nick Skelton. Based between two main yards, Lodge Hill and Badbury Hill Stables, the team have access to some of the best facilities around, which have enabled them to train over 1,200 winners so far. Notable successes have come with the likes of Protektorat, Proschema, Nube Negra, Galia Des Liteaux and Grey Dawning. Dan has trained eight Cheltenham Festival winners to date. At the 2024 renewal, he was the winning-most British trainer with four victories, including two Grade 1s. The hard work of the team was recognised by the 2021 Lyetts leadership award.

Share Breakdown

There are no other partners in this horse, so once 2,000 shares are sold, 100% of the horse will be owned by Old Gold Racing owners.

Unlike other syndicates, Old Gold Racing does not charge owners VAT. This means that there is no need to reclaim VAT and that a share represents a greater proportion of the racehorse.

At the end of the syndicate term any unspent funds are returned to owners pro-rata. These funds can be withdrawn or used against the cost of renewing or purchasing a share.
