Introducing: Killybegs Jet Lady

Killybegs Jet Lady is an eye-catching 7-year-old mare by Jet Away and out of Little Twinkle.

Killybegs Jet Lady has plenty of presence about her. During her time in training with dual Grand National winning trainer, Lucinda Russell, she has shown great determination and an honest attitude.

Killybegs Jet Lady recorded progressive form figures of 4321 in Irish Point-to-Points. She had just the one start last spring when finishing 4th at Ballyknock and improved her Point-to-Point rating with every run since. Her time between the flags came to a close with an impressive 18-length victory at Borris House in December.

That win is looking better and better over time; three of the horses she beat – by 18 lengths, 32½ lengths and 34½ lengths respectively – have since gone on to win races.

Killybegs Jet Lady has had a mixed start to her career under rules but has had her reasons for this. She has since found her form on better ground and there looks to be plenty more to come from her.

Lucinda is aware that she has been a bit of a “slow burner” but is very much looking forward to the year ahead with her, now that we have a good idea of her ideal conditions.

Killybegs Jet Lady faced a slight setback when, during a schooling session in the summer, she managed to get a small cut that later developed into an infection. She has since received treatment for this and is currently making good progress at Lucinda’s yard. The plan is to build her back up to full training in the coming months ready for a run later this season.

Prior to this, she had been getting on very well with her training and continued to show that her jumping is a real asset, suggesting that she’ll make an exciting novice handicap chaser for the coming season!
