Introducing: The Wicked Wolf

The Wicked Wolf is a balanced and strong-bodied 2-year-old colt, who will be the very first horse to represent Royal Windsor Racecourse.

The Wicked Wolf is now under the guidance of the multiple Royal Ascot winning trainer, Jamie Osborne, having been purchased by Highflyer Bloodstock at the Goffs Breeze Up Sale this year.

He showed a nice, long stride when breezing, suggesting he’ll make a promising start later this season and will only continue to improve as he matures.

Hear Anthony Bromley’s thoughts, below:

The Wicked Wolf’s sire, Sergei Prokofiev, was bought for $1,100,000 as a yearling by Coolmore and quickly got to work, winning twice, before placing at Royal Ascot and going on to win the Cornwallis Stakes.

Retiring to Whitsbury Manor Stud, he became Champion First-Season Sire in 2024 thanks to the likes of Group 1 winner, Arizona Blaze, and stakes winner, Enchanting Empress.

Golden Achievement ran twice at three and four after being purchased for €90,000 at the foal sales. Her dam, Gold Bubbles, was a winner at two and went on to be placed at Group level, introducing some Black Type to the page.

The Wicked Wolf shares his damsire, Exceed And Excel, with multiple Group 1 winners such as Ten Sovereigns, Anthony Van Dyke and Vandeek.

Jamie is thrilled to have been selected to train for the syndicate and feels The Wicked Wolf will bring us a lot of fun. He said: “I think he was very well bought… he’s a quality horse and he has scope”, adding that “so far he looks like a very sound horse with a good brain”.

The Wicked Wolf has plenty of size and scope about him and we have every reason to believe that he will do us proud this summer and in seasons to come.

About The Trainer

Jamie Osborne was a National Hunt jockey for 16 seasons, notching up a dozen Cheltenham Festival victories and almost a thousand winners worldwide, making him one of the top riders of that era. He announced his retirement from the saddle in 1999 and took out his trainer’s license later that year.

In only his second season as a trainer, Jamie trained his first Royal Ascot winner when Irony won the Windsor Castle Stakes and in 2003, his first Group 1 triumph followed with Milk It Mick in the Dewhurst Stakes. The yard has now reached a total of six Royal Ascot winners and has also gained international victories with Toast Of New York, who scored in the UAE Derby and finished 2nd, by a nose, in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Share Breakdown

There are no other partners in this horse, so once 2500 shares are sold, 100% of the horse will be owned by Royal Windsor Racing Syndicate owners.

Unlike other syndicates, Old Gold Racing does not charge owners VAT. This means that there is no need to reclaim VAT and that a share represents a greater proportion of the racehorse.

At the end of the syndicate term any unspent funds are returned to owners pro-rata. These funds can be withdrawn or used against the cost of renewing or purchasing a share.
